Indeed, the movie reference could have just distorted the perception of a real event. But the distortion is always there, always relevant, something which unfortunately most ETH "investigators" completely ignore, or worse, hide.

I too find these parallels very interesting, though I do believe the prosaic, psychosocial explanation is the solution to all of them.

But to me, that doesn't mean they are "just" dreams, misperceptions, delusions or such, but that dreams, misperceptions, delusions and such are so much more complex and play a much bigger role in our lives than we usually assume.

That has to be better understood, and Forteana, as a whole, is the way.

As you say, it is impossible to say what happened but you are also right that there are odd common features amongst these weird encounters.

The thing that struck me was not the movie reference (which makes sense as we'd all use analogies to explain things beyond our general experience) but the disappearing and the radio interference are things that have been reported in connection with Bigfoot. This and other odd parallels (that you wouldn't expect from a simple unknown giant ape) do suggest something is going on.

Although the solution still remains elusive, but I think the answer lies in these fringe cases.
