Another photo of Hipster “Time Traveller” found

time travel not

Oh, the power and the wisdom of Internet people. After more than 100k hits to the hipster “time traveller” in 1940 story, comes the comment from Angie who found another photo of the South Fork bridge reopening… and it seems to have also recorded the man in question!

This second photograph was found on the John Wihksne Collection, and is properly captioned “Opening of the new (1940) bridge at South Fork”.

Here’s an enlargement to help you locate the target:

timetravelhipster2nd

And let’s remember the original photo on the Bralorne-Pioneer museum:

timeoriginal

The cars, the tall hipster, everything seems in perfect order.

The man was there, and as we checked, his clothes, glasses and camera were available in 1940. So we return to our original conclusion:

“This is not much of a proof of time travel, and more like evidence of the cyclic nature of fashion.”

Now with double evidence. [With many thanks to the keen eye of Angie, and with a photo from Hank Sunderman]

As stated in the other post, it is George Thomson who worked at the mine. He was tall and had crazy hair with the solid widow’s peak.
The lettered sweater is probably a Montreal Maroons jersey, but could be any number of letter emblemed shirts from the era. The glasses are probably the ones he uses when handling molten metals, but could be motorcyle or glacier goggles.

Uh, Id like to return a couple of comments about John Titor in his defense. John never said that the events in his time line would occur in the same exact dates as his time line in our own time line. He also talked very vaguely in regards to issues that could dramatically change our time line. John felt a war and a civil war would be a good thing for the world and our country in our time line to weed out the selfish, greedy and piggish life styles that plague our world today as John pointed out. John was very much real and more so because 100% of what he said is backed up with proof today. So our civil war on our time line has not happened however take a close look at the political split in 2004, Take a close look at the political divide today regarding the health care of America and recent events that have taken place as a result. Take a close look at our relationships through out the world and see how our influence through out the world has decreased. John knew these things would take place because they did so in his world line. He said they would happen in our world line but he did not give exact dates only dates as they pertained to his world line.People should learn to read and read very carefully. John also made mention of a president that would be 2nd to the last and would compare himself to Abe Lincoln. Hmm sounds like a elected president now! If what John time line foretold to John in his world time line is correct and our own time line could echoe some what the same but gaps of time between, Then the days ahead do not look pretty! People better wake up. The pictures listed are authentic! No way it could be faked from all three pictures presented. The camera the time traveler has is a 35mm digital Kodak camera, I have almost exactly the same type. His jacket is also a wool hooded jacket not made in that time of the 1940s with the type of zipper in lined. The shirt is a screen printed shirt. Skeptics can stop working for the elite and trying to mislead people. People are smarter then that and they know the truth. Military and government scientists have been playing with time travel experiments for 40+ years. People are foolish to think it’s not possible.CERN & GE have both done a good job trying to dismiss the Titor story by not commenting on it one way or the other, Why? After all the additional hype would only generate more funding for the companies and make there stocks go up if there was any validity to the story on the other hand if it was true, and they already knew it was true, The military wouldn’t want that out in the public and military funding as we all know is endless. Time Travel could be used as a per versed weapon one in which many world powers that be would want. Titor was a solder from 2036 and not Larry Haber brother as some skeptics are running around claiming. What he seen in his time line doesn’t mean it will happen in our time line her simply felt it would happen because from his perspective we all are looked down upon as selfish, piggish and outlandish, Our time line can be changed and adverted for better or for worse depending whom holds the power. Go to Johntitor.com and read his story. From a movie i like a lot, I quote; There is no fate but the fate we make for ourselves. Terminator

Lol. I didn’t realize that the term hipster had made a comeback. Since “hipster” was a 1940s term, I kept thinking, a hipster in 1940? Whadja expect?

You think that is strange, check out the guy taking off the Dr. Who hat in the same photo. Also look into the strange photo of wandervogel( wandering birds) in John Tolan’s Adolf Hitler, of all places? Maybe there is more than one or maybe it’s time traveling hippies. The sixties were different.

it may be M as the logo. But what we see is Y.

    I think it`s fake.

Re hipster time-traveller. His sweater seems to have a zip not buttons. My quick check of history suggests zips were very new fashion items in Paris in 1937. So they were around but might question likelihood in 1940 America. So how about suggesting the first photo is a hoax but the second indicates a type of coincidental phenomenon that would have scientists going to their graves rather than continue to draw breath in such a world.

Then again, why would anybody bother to hoax such a thing unless the world is truly queerer than we suppose but so perfectly mapped to the world we think we know that only truly weird, ridiculous and improbable events ever break cover, so common-sense must prevail and we can all breath again. Doesn’t mean reality isn’t truly really weird.

First of all the sweater in the picture they are comparing to the acrylic ink, silk screened shirt he is wearing, it a knitted emblem. It looks nothing like the shirt he is wearing at all, which brings up a major question. How many acrylic ink, silk screened shirts were produced in the 1940’s? There is no raised lettering on that shirt he is wearing at all, it is ink, not macrame knitting. So let’s go back to the major reason for discounting this photo, because saying it looked similar to a lettermen sweater is not accounting for the fact that this type of logo shirt was not produced until several decades later.

Also, compare those two cameras and tell me what if anything looks at all like the camera the claim he is holding. It looks nothing at all like the top section of that camera, so what was he holding? Let’s find a model that fits the one he has in the pic before claiming it’s the same one. They look nothing alike on the top section.

I’ve always been interested in time travel and if I could I would definitely do it. I do wonder, these photos are that old. Has anyone ever asked who the others were in the photo? The bridge opening would have been eventful in that town/city, so there must be someone who was there who could recognise or verify something. The Charlie Chaplin movie. Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly intrigued by the whole thing but, was there any conversations from families of people who featured in the movie? Someone talking on the phone (on something/to themselves) when it wasn’t around would have been odd and therefore someone must have said something to their spouses/friends etc that they saw the most peculiar thing. And as we all know (particularly with us ladies) when we get talking we start passing info on. Generations before out time were not as self involved as we are now so how is it that no one mentioned anything in passing?

  18. […] People had suggested the man could also be Albert Wihksne, who lived in the region and who had another photo of the reopening of the bridge. But his son John doesn’t think he was the hipster we are looking […]

Greetings and salutations to all. Do not let yourselves be controlled by your government. It is the era of evolutionary change. Peace on planet Earth shall prosper if the dark curtains of deception are defeated. That is your choice, your decision. Wars secretly brewing, economic change, evolution, cosmic events, are all happening as you blindly go about your daily lives. The tail of a thousand suns shall be upon you as the walls of water surround you like a blanket on easter island. God speed people of the present. Seek what is seen, or disappear like a forgotten memory.

Can anyone notice that the glasses are not like the one piece plastic glasses they look like at first glimpse? They are regular glasses just like the old guy next to him! the difference is that the “time traveler’s ” glasses have small leather visors on the sides like carriage horse’s, those glasses were called mountain climber’s.

I personally do not know what to believe about time travel..Its sounds amazing to be able to go back and watch big historical events happen..There is one thing that makes me a skeptic though..Its a effect or theory I do not know the name of but it goes like this :

Imagine it was possible to go back in time and prevent your Grandfather from marrying your Grandmother, which would result in your dad/mom not being born which would result in you not being born which in turn would result in you never traveling back in time which makes the actions cancel out each other..So thinking about time travel on a logical level it seems kinda impossible..

Im am really interested in this subject so if anyone has some interesting facts please pass them on to me :)

It doesn’t matter how much you try to cover up the truth, we all know it is real. There are so many mysteries in our world and so many of you have
Closed minds that they don’t want to know the truth. It saddens me to think how you closed minded people are going to feel when the entire truth comes ouy.closed minds.

  23. Ron Nicholson May 7th, 2011 6:33 pm

If time travel is going to be popular in the future, isn’t there a risk that the ‘traveller’ will want to have his photo taken with somebody famous just for laughs? If we accept this as a possibility, why haven’t these ‘fun’ photos materialised yet? Don’t be too ready to accept what appears to be true as indeed true. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would feel pretty silly if he knew that those sweat little girls had faked the ‘fairy’ photographs. But fake they are. He was an intelligent man but he made the mistake of accepting what he saw and was told at face value. Keep your mind open.

  24. geordie July 14th, 2011 8:35 pm

why is it that time travellers always pop up in old photos, tapestries, cave drawings, when there is no one alive to corroberate the existence of a stranger in their midst. Where are the time travellers today??? There must have been hoards of them at the last space shuttle launches, fairly historic events. However it seems that we have to wait until everyone living at those events dies until the mysterious personalities appear in the crowd. As Professor Stephen Hawking put it, if time travel were possible we would be inundated with time travelling tourists from the future. If the government knew time travel was possible they wouldnt hide it… they would TAX it! then we’d all know about it.
That bloke in the photo has the haircut of the 40s, safety specs and looks like he is wearing a welders apron.

  25. Graeme September 7th, 2011 6:23 pm

The problem with time travel is the Grandfather effect. If he is a time traveller then just travelling to 1940 and being in a crowed who has he prevented from getting somewhere, where they should have been at a certain time. Even if he has halted someone by a second or a minute then that could have consequences upon the future bad or good. Him just being their in his style of clothes someone might have looked and it given them ideas of fashion and changed the way fashion went. It is indeed a paradox.

I like Peter Richard’s comment that the tall man is George Thomson.

Here’s another photo from the same collection taken nearby in 1938 or 39. A man who looks very much like the “time traveller” is in the top row, second from the left: http://www.virtualmuseum.ca/pm_v2.php?id=search_record_detail&fl=0&lg=English&ex=00000470&rd=117594&sy=cat&st=&ci=4

And here is George Thomson in 1962: http://www.virtualmuseum.ca/pm_v2.php?id=record_detail&fl=0&lg=English&ex=00000470&rd=117566

I’m not certain the two photos are the same man (George Thomson), but I think it’s likely that the man in the 1938 photo is the “time traveller.”

So, one thing no one seems to see is his haircut it is out of time, it is a layered hair cut. That system of hair cutting was not used in 1940’s If you look at the other hair cuts you can see the style, what they called high and tight. In this picture the traveler hair is groomed tight to his ear, his hair is longer on top to match a hair cut from the 80’s or 90’s were as the others are an inch to an inch and a half above the ear and much shorter on top, as was the style then. Hope it helps either way.

Everyone needs to have an open mind because there is more than just us out here. I have researched a lot of questionable events and stories and there is no answer unless you look at other aspects. If you look at this time travelers face, you can see that he doesn’t belong in this time period. People back then looked different. People in different era’s look different even with the different clothing for that period. No, the government will not want us to know about what is really going on because most of us would not be able to handle it. Look around you and think about the different gadgets that are invented, do you really think these people are that smart? Read their biography and see if you read anything that will make you think someone went through time to get the idea. Let’s put our thinkingcaps on!!!!!!!

  31. Reese May 20th, 2013 2:47 pm

I have to comment on the arguments being posted and the actual “proof” with the pictures and videos.
The hipster – For just a minute lets pretend this guys clothes were really available back in 1940. We’ll its 2013 right now and available at the local army navy store is full camouflage pants, shirts, hats, army boots, ect… But I’m not going to show up in some small town bridge opening dressed as a soldier. My point is if his multi-design hoodie was available back then (which I don’t believe even the slightest), he wouldn’t be wearing it at a bridge opening. Nor would he wear those shades, nor would he have a 2005 (or there abouts) haircut.
Unfortunately, proving his style is not available or likely in the 40s leads to the flip side of this argument. If he was a soldier, and was sent from the future, I have a hard time believing our government, military, or whichever organization that may have sent him didn’t plan ahead of time a wardrobe along with other items (money dated before his arrival date), medicine, ect.. for his to bring on his travels.
Like them or not, you still must admit our government is very good at whatever they do. And yes this includes covering there tracks. I can’t imagine on the day of sending one of there soldiers back in time, they would not notice there traveler like more like vanilla ice then a citizen blending in.
So let’s question this….. If it is a real photo, why is he at a bridge ceremony? Could he be related to someone else at in the photo? Was he meant to travel back to a different year but something went wrong? Could he possibly have snuck a ride to the past? Bottomline the only argument is if the photo is real or not. Nevermind if the clothing was available cuz no one would wear them.

And 1 quick comment regarding the cell phone in the Chaplin film. Its not a phone. There are no cell phone towers invented yet. Just my opinion. I just think if you want to put your energy into figuring out these time travel questions then focus on the hipster. Start by identifying every incident or construction done to the bridge from then to the present. If nothing pops up then try to identify everyone in that photo n run there family tree from then to now. Maybe there grand Kid is someone of importance today. Open our minds.

  32. brooke July 28th, 2013 10:13 pm

I really can’t decide whether I believe it or not!Yes, I understand he could easily (and most likely) be a guy with a good fashion sense. But on the other hand, he has clothes and a camera that nobody else has here. The second picture shows he wasn’t photoshopped… I just can’t decide! I would like to believe it’s true, but I can’t say. An awesome read though!
